Brief
The units
brief was easy to understand as we all have seen many like it, and began to
understand early on what they said as they are straight forward, but the unit
broke down into 8 tasks, some done as homework and the rest in lesson, like most
units.
Task 1
- Project Charter
The
project charter would be used every lesson so we could write down what and how
out progress into the unit has gone, and therefore eventually help us write
this, the review. the project charter also helped us keep in mind, how much
progress we have made, and on our own made decisions to see if this lesson
enough was done if not, some more will have to be completed at home. The
charter would include dates and some informative notes on everything, to help
us remember what is needed to be done, and what can be improved upon.
Task 2 - Schedule
The
project schedule will also be a big help in telling us what will need to be
done, what can be done, and what is done. Helping us yet again write the review
and also helping us keep track of our work, and writing down the smallest
details in the boxes given could help us; figure out a week later what is
needed of a certain task.
Task 3 - Research
This
task would include our own home-done-work, where we would go onto the internet
and surf to find anything on helping us create a robotic sidekick of our own. This
research would include us gaining pictures of known and famous robots
throughout film, TV and games. And maybe giving us ideas to use in our next
task.
Task 4 - Ideas Generation
This
task was also done at home, after the research is complete this task was easier
as with our heads filled with ideas, from famous robots and our own. this task
was simple, write ideas down on a piece of paper that a robot could do or need
such as power, weapons and jobs it can do for us as a sidekick could do.
Task 5 - Design Pack

this
task wasn't easy for me as if cannot draw very well but with the lines,
included on the paper, giving us a pretty good idea on the scale and accurate
drawings we could do of the models.
Task 6 - Production
This
task wasn't straight forward for me as it wasn't for most, but during our
lessons we did some tutorials and after lessons I would sometime make a house
or a tree at home with the knowledge that I gained for these tutorials. Keeping
me sharp and helping me get to know the tools as I went along. Adding all this
to a file and checking in on it every lesson helped us with older tools we had
forgotten about since we haven’t used them in some time.
Task 7 – Presentation
Task 7 – Presentation
The presentation, was simple to do
add the finished work onto a blog post, with would include finished rendered images
of the final model and maybe some text alongside, explaining the model and its
features.
Conclusion
This unit so
far was my favourite as we got to design our very own robotic sidekick that could
be in our minds for some time, and maybe one day in the future become real, or
scan it into a 3D printer and make it a sculpture. (Another thing I learned on a
past unit)
